Work on a legal matter assigned to you to conduct legal investigations and resolve an
internal complaint.

## Antes de Iniciar

The practice area lead or the group manager would have [assigned the
legal matter to you](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/kOEOdykwOZKa97fxnGXf9g "Assign a legal matter to yourself or to someone in the assignment group to start working on the matter.") to work on.

Role required:
sn_lg_investigate.fulfiller

## Procedimento

1. Navigate to AllLegal RequestLegal Counsel Center.
2. Click the list icon (![List icon]()).
3. In the Lists tab, under Matters, click All.
4. Open a legal matter to work on.
5. Click Start Work to start working on the legal matter.  
   The state of the legal matter updates to Work in Progress.
6. During the legal investigation, you can create and record the following information related to the incident and involved parties.
   * [Add or modify an involved
     party](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/6uLMYokZPdUG32~WxWbv_Q "Add a new involved party or modify the information of an existing involved party in a legal request or legal matter related to a complaint.") in the Involved Parties tab.
   * [Add an allegation](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/ssidxUUUkfdHHUB5WxBPpQ "Add an allegation record to the legal matter as part of your complaint investigation, and associate it with an involved party.") to the matter, and associate it with one or more involved parties of the type Subject of Allegation.
   * Add documentation, interviews, and recommended actions through legal matter tasks as you conduct investigations.  
     Nota:  
     For a legal investigation matter, add tasks of the following types:
     * Documentation: Store documents that you collected as part of the investigations in the legal matter. You can also assign the task of collecting investigation documentation to another user. For detailed instructions, see [Add a task in the legal matter](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/GtEL6T83OTnK4Dtl~mwIxQ "Create a task in a legal matter or a phase of the matter that you or another user should perform to resolve the matter.").
     * Interview: Conduct interviews with the involved parties, and as needed, include other users on the interview panel.      * Recommended Actions: Based on the findings of the investigations, provide recommendations for the involved parties. 7. [Close
   the legal matter](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/CGHtVqi8JL4FrmaBbj~nwA "Close a legal matter assigned to you when you complete all activities for resolving the legal matter. You can also close the matter if you find that it doesn’t need any further action.") or [transfer the legal matter](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/YINt3NnzVFWrEYmCMnA1mQ "Transfer a legal ticket (legal request or legal matter) associated with a universal request to another department or back to the universal request for processing and resolution.") based on the requirements.
