## Summary of API Service Graph Connector for Azure API Management

The ServiceNow API Service Graph Connector for Azure API Management enables you to import API details from your Azure API Management application into the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
This integration provides a unified and consistent view of your API landscape, improving visibility, governance, and collaboration without requiring direct access to Azure API Management.

## Key Features

* Imports API data into a normalized data model to ensure consistency across various technologies.
* Includes the API Insights workspace, which offers a centralized interface to analyze and interact with API data.
* Supports multiple ServiceNow releases, including Yokohama, Zurich, and Australia.
* Uses robust data transformation and reconciliation engines (RTE and IRE) for accurate data mapping and insertion into the CMDB.
* Supports soft deletion of CMDB configuration items, marking undiscovered records as Non-Operational rather than removing them permanently.

## Use Cases

* Maintain a comprehensive inventory of exposed and backend APIs, tracking their publication, usage, and ownership.
* Trace APIs from customer-facing endpoints through to underlying services, facilitating impact analysis and incident creation when issues arise.
* Manage vulnerabilities and security incidents related to APIs and enforce compliance requirements.

## Configuration

Configuration of the connector should be performed via the SGC Central view within the CMDB Workspace. This interface allows you to discover, install, and manage connector lifecycle tasks such as creating, editing, monitoring, and debugging connections. The older guided setup method is deprecated and should be avoided unless configuration issues arise.

## Data Mapping

Data imported from Azure API Management is staged and mapped to specific CMDB Configuration Item (CI) classes and related tables using the Robust Transform Engine and Identification and Reconciliation Engine. Key data sources include API Management Services, Managed APIs, API Frontend and Backend components, API Consumers, API Products, Subscriptions, and Tags.

The connector periodically pulls data, updating the CMDB to reflect the current state of your Azure API Management environment. IntegrationHub ETL can be used to view and manage data maps.

## Record Removal Process

The connector uses a soft deletion approach for CMDB records. Records not found during the latest discovery job are marked as Non-Operational rather than being deleted, preserving historical data and aiding in change tracking.
Use the ServiceNow®
API Service Graph Connector for Azure API Management to import API details from an Azure API Management application into the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

## Key features {#api-sgc-azure-mgmt__section_cff_jgs_2bc}

Import data into a normalized data model for consistency across other technologies.

The API Insights workspace provides a centralized interface where you can analyze and interact with API data, without needing direct access to Azure API Management, enhancing visibility, governance, and collaboration across the API estate. To learn more, see [API Insights](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/0FA9VzZDEW5Pz1URWud4zw "The ServiceNow API Insights workspace is an all-in-one application that enables you to track all your APIs. You can also use it to start workflows related to different stages in the application programming interface (API) life cycle.").

## Supported ServiceNow versions {#api-sgc-azure-mgmt__section_yds_dww_prb}

* Yokohama
* Zurich
* Australia
{#api-sgc-azure-mgmt__ul_txy_fhs_2bc}

## Use cases {#api-sgc-azure-mgmt__section_gkq_wv3_dxb}

You can use the API Service Graph Connector for Azure API Management to:

* Maintain an end-to-end inventory of exposed and backend APIs, identifying what APIs are published, used, and by whom.
* Track APIs from customer-facing endpoints to the underlying services, identifying impacted endpoints when services change or fail and creating incidents for reported issues.
* Address vulnerabilities and security incidents related to API endpoints, and create compliance requirements to measure against.

## Configuring a connection for the connector {#api-sgc-azure-mgmt__section_cgw_3pf_32c}

You can configure a connection for the connector by using the SGC Central view in the CMDB Workspace. The view enables you to discover and install connectors, and then effectively manage the full life cycle of creating, editing, monitoring, and debugging connections. To configure the connector
using SGC Central, see [Configure API Service Graph Connector for Azure API Management using SGC Central](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/ANYAo5q2J~~WdvEAD~oS1g "Set up scheduled import jobs to pull in Azure API Management data into your CMDB.").
Important:
Unless there are configuration issues, use SGC Central to configure the connection. The guided setup method for configuration is being deprecated.

## Data mapping {#api-sgc-azure-mgmt__section_j24_gww_prb}

Data from the Azure API Management data sources is mapped and transformed into the CMDB Configuration Item (CI) class definitions using the Robust Transform Engine (RTE). Data is inserted into the CMDB using the Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE).

When you complete setting up the connection, you can configure the integration to periodically pull data from an Azure API Management application.
The following table lists the data sources in the order they run, the staging tables, and the target tables as CMDB CI and non-CMDB classes for an Azure API Management application.{#api-sgc-azure-mgmt__table_s3s_dns_zxb__entry__3}

For more information on where data is saved when pulling data from an Azure API Management application, see [Target tables for storing API Service Graph Connector for Azure API Management data](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/_oS_I135kwE0xkrw2qnNHw "When you complete setting up the connection, you can configure the integration to periodically pull data from an Azure API Management application. The data is saved in tables that extend from the Configuration item [cmdb_ci] classes and other non-CMDB classes.").

You can use the IntegrationHub ETL app to view the data maps. See [IntegrationHub ETL](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/MvUnD_GHFcty25xoT_q32Q "Use the IntegrationHub ETL store app to create and manage ETL transform maps, which integrate third-party data into the CMDB or into non-CMDB tables without compromising the integrity of data. IntegrationHub ETL provides a simplified user interface that guides you through the integration process end-to-end, including a test integration run of sample data.") for more information.

## Record removal process {#api-sgc-azure-mgmt__section_oxc_zbf_lgc}

The connector supports soft deletion for CMDB CI classes only, meaning records are not permanently removed from the system. Instead, any CMDB CI records not discovered during the last scheduled job run are marked as Non-Operational.
