## Summary of Service Graph Connector for Akamai API Security

The Service Graph Connector for Akamai API Security enables ServiceNow customers to integrate APIs discovered by Akamai API Security into their ServiceNow CMDB.
This integration supports comprehensive API management and security use cases by importing detailed API data into the ServiceNow platform's API Insights capability.
It enhances visibility into API components, including security and risk attributes such as request/response data types, authentication methods, and internet-facing endpoints.

## Key Features

* **Supported Versions:** Compatible with ServiceNow releases Xanadu, Yokohama, and Zurich, and Akamai API Security REST APIs (/api/v3/apis, /api/v3/sources, /auth/token).
* **API Data Integration:** Maps Akamai API Security data into CMDB Configuration Item (CI) classes, specifically enhancing the API Component CI class with security-related attributes.
* **Configuration and Management:** Uses the Service Graph Connector (SGC) Central view within Service Graph Workspace or CMDB Workspace for installation, connection setup, lifecycle management, and troubleshooting.
* **Monitoring:** Integration Commons for CMDB app offers a dashboard to monitor integration health, processing outcomes, and errors, with filters for specific integrations and time frames.
* **Data Mapping and Transformation:** Utilizes the Robust Transform Engine (RTE) and Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) to systematically transform and reconcile Akamai data into ServiceNow CMDB tables.
* **Scheduled Data Loads:** Supports full and delta data loads. Initial imports perform full loads with subsequent imports running delta loads. The schedule for full loads can be customized via a scheduled script.

## Practical Benefits for ServiceNow Customers

By deploying this connector, customers can centralize and automate API discovery and security risk data within ServiceNow, enabling better API governance and risk management. The integration allows quick identification of API endpoints' exposure and authentication methods, critical for securing APIs effectively. Centralized monitoring and lifecycle management of the integration simplify operational maintenance and troubleshooting.

## Next Steps and Resources

* Install and configure the connector via the SGC Central view.
* Use the CMDB Integrations Dashboard for ongoing monitoring.
* Customize scheduled scripts to manage full data loads as needed.
* Refer to the Management API Reference and Service Graph Connectors documentation for detailed configuration and usage guidance.
Use the Service Graph Connector for Akamai API Security to integrate the APIs discovered by Akamai into your ServiceNow instance to support various API management use cases.

## Use cases {#sgc-integration-akamai__section_xzf_5ys_nfc}

The Service Graph Connector for Akamai API Security brings data into the new API Insights capability of the ServiceNow platform, enabling the management of different APIs in one instance. The connector adds information discovered by Akamai API Security to the API Component CI class.

The Service Graph Connector for Akamai API Security populates attributes that are security- and risk-related, such as the request and response data types, whether an API endpoint is internet-facing, and the type of
authentication used for the endpoint. These data points enable risk and security use cases to be implemented for API security.

## Configuring a connection for the connector {#sgc-integration-akamai__section_stg_psr_mfc}

Use the SGC Central view in the Service Graph Workspace or CMDB Workspace to install the connector and configure the connection. The view enables you to install and discover connectors and to manage the full life cycle of creating, editing, monitoring, and debugging connections. For instructions, see [Configure Service Graph Connector for Akamai API Security using SGC Central](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/j2xwActwFsvluS4BC8IyXA "Use the playbook available with the SGC Central application to set up the Service Graph Connector for Akamai API Security for pulling in Akamai API Security data into the CMDB.").

## CMDB integrations dashboard {#sgc-integration-akamai__section_fgd_xsr_mfc}

The Integration Commons for CMDB store app provides a dashboard with a central view of the status, processing results, and processing errors of all installed integrations. You can see metrics for all integration runs.
You can filter the view to a specific CMDB integration, a specific time duration, or a specific integration run. For more details about monitoring Akamai API Security integrations in the CMDB Integrations Dashboard, see [Using the CMDB Integrations Dashboard](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/6UR2b9oa6teU8Ntvkupjzg#integration-commons-for-cmdb__section_fxg_lh4_blb).

## Data mapping {#sgc-integration-akamai__section_snx_mtr_mfc}

Data from the Akamai API Security data sources is mapped and transformed into the ServiceNow
CMDB Configuration Item (CI) class definitions using the Robust Transform Engine (RTE). Data is inserted into the ServiceNow
CMDB using the Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE).
The following table lists the data sources, the staging tables, and the target tables as CMDB CI and non-CMDB classes for Akamai API Security.{#sgc-integration-akamai__table_ngb_mss_ygc__entry__3}

| Data source | Staging table | Target tables |

You can use the IntegrationHub ETL app to view the data maps. See [IntegrationHub ETL](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/MvUnD_GHFcty25xoT_q32Q "Use the IntegrationHub ETL store app to create and manage ETL transform maps, which integrate third-party data into the CMDB or into non-CMDB tables without compromising the integrity of data. IntegrationHub ETL provides a simplified user interface that guides you through the integration process end-to-end, including a test integration run of sample data.") for more information.

## Scheduled script for full data load {#sgc-integration-akamai__section_yff_hwn_ygc}

The Service Graph Connector for Akamai API Security supports both full load and delta load data ingestion methods. A full data load retrieves all API-related data and populates the corresponding CMDB tables. Delta loads fetch
only the data that changed since the previous execution.

During the initial scheduled data import, a full data load is executed. Subsequent data imports perform delta loads.

To run a full data load on a recurring basis, customize the execution schedule of the Reset Last Run Datetime for SG-Akamai scheduled script based on your requirements. To open the Scheduled Script
Executions table, enter <kbd class="ph userinput">sysauto_script.list</kbd> in the navigation filter.
