Add a product feature to a product

  • Add a product feature to a product to help you plan and manage the scope of a product release.

    Role required: sn_dpr_model.product_manager

    About this task

    With the Digital Product Release v1.3, you can add product enhancements to a product's version instead of product features. The product enhancements enables you to plan product features across multiple product versions.

    When you upgrade to Digital Product Release v1.3, a product enhancement is created for each existing product feature and linked to the respective versions. Also, all existing links between Work Items and product features will be replaced with links to the corresponding product enhancements.     Procedure

    1. Navigate to Workspaces > Digital Product Release Workspace.
    2. Select the products icon (Products icon.).
    3. Select a product from the list to open.
    4. Select the Product features tab.
    5. Add or modify a product feature.
      • To add a new product feature, select Add feature.
      • To modify an existing product feature, select it from the list.
    6. On the Add feature dialog box, fill in the fields.

      Field Description
      Feature name Name of the product feature.
      Priority Priority level for the feature. The level determines how much effort is needed to meet the feature's goals.
      Description Brief, high-level description of the product feature.
    7. Select Confirm.
      The product feature is created and opened in the Product Feature record page.
    8. Optional: On the Details tab, update the details about the feature, including its state, owner name, and assignment group.
    9. Optional: On the Product Enhancements tab, manage enhancements to plan the product feature into multiple versions of the product.
      1. Select New.
      2. Enter details for the enhancement on the Details tab.
      3. Select Save.
    10. Optional: Add artifacts for the product feature.
      1. Select the attachment icon (Attachment icon.) on the contextual menu to open the Attachments pane.
      2. Select the Select button to upload and attach a file.
