Neighborhoods are a group of spaces assigned to employees within an organization. A
neighborhood can be located anywhere within the organizational structure.
Space admins and space planners can create a neighborhood and perform the following:

* Assign multiple neighborhoods to employees. An employee can be assigned to a space in a neighborhood or to the neighborhood itself. For more information, see [Create a neighborhood for workplace users](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/owvOZj4Ymyv5Uyv6HaKwvA "Create a neighborhood and assign users to available spaces in a neighborhood. Add or remove users in bulk and allocate available neighborhood spaces to users in a department, cost center, or group.").
* Assign employees to a neighborhood using user assignment rules that can run on a schedule. For more information, see [Execute User Assignment Rules](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/owvOZj4Ymyv5Uyv6HaKwvA "Create a neighborhood and assign users to available spaces in a neighborhood. Add or remove users in bulk and allocate available neighborhood spaces to users in a department, cost center, or group.").
* You can also assign a user to a neighborhood from their workplace profile directly. Neighborhood assignments are applicable if Neighborhood is selected as the group by or view by option in a scenario or building overview. Location assignments are applicable for all other options.
* Employees can reserve a space in a neighborhood if they're part of the neighborhood or if the neighborhood isn't restricted.
* Add or remove spaces in a neighborhood.
* Add or remove users from one neighborhood to another.
* View and reserve neighborhood spaces using floor maps on the reservation portal.
  Note:
Ensure that you've installed Indoor Mapping and dependent plugins to view neighborhoods on a floor map. For more information, see [Configure Indoor Mapping](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/jEc2hVXPJ4AyWv31nc6X8w "Install and configure Indoor Mapping map instance data and properties.").

Neighborhoods can be used for the following workplace requirements:

* Scenario planning. For more information, see [Create a scenario](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/uUAKmG_d6KYDjThg99V3PQ "Create a scenario with a building. Add, update or remove space allocations before publishing and deploying a scenario. Manage and update your scenarios using the Stack plan and Floor map component tabs.").
* Reservation management: Employees can reserve neighborhood spaces using the reservation management portal. Space admins can restrict access to spaces in a neighborhood if the neighborhood is indicated as restricted or private. For more information, see [Create neighborhood reservations](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/3qVOAzPYXAb8~5h9TW0rVw "Reserve neighborhood spaces using Advanced reservation.").
* Location directory: Employees can view spaces belonging to a neighborhood on the location directory. For more information, see [Manage workplace activities and services with Location directory](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/meh9JEt9sIxzu8D1H3swKg "Explore workplace campuses, sites, buildings, and neighborhoods using the Location directory. Get directions using map routes to a meeting room, building, or co-workers to collaborate effectively. Search for employees, locations, and neighborhood spaces. Reserve a space, request, or report a workplace service issue. Filter spaces by reservation states, occupancy states to get insights on space availability.").
