# Adding comments to assessments

Comments can be added to an assessment at any time by the owner or contributors, regardless of its current state. This feature enables for clarification on questions or other aspects of the assessment.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_smart_asmt.actor

## Procedure

1. Navigate to your workspace and then to your list of assessments.  
   Here's an example of how to navigate to this list in the Compliance Workspace.
   1. Navigate to WorkspacesCompliance Workspace
   2. Select the list icon (![List icon.]()).
   3. Navigate to Control attestationsSmart Assessments.

2. Select the assessments in which you want to add a comment.
3. From the contextual sidebar, select the Comment icon .
4. Provide your comment in the Comment field.
5. Select Post Comments.  
   The comment appears in the comment list.
