To edit a saved data visualization from the library on a dashboard, so the changes apply only on the dashboard, unlink your local copy of the visualization from the library.

## Before you begin

Role required: Any

## About this task

You may find yourself needing to modify a data visualization on a dashboard to which you have editing rights. However, if it is a shared dashboard from the library, you would be editing the library copy that many other people
use. You might not want to or be allowed to do this. However, as long as you can edit the dashboard, you can unlink a visualization on the dashboard from the library. Then you have a local version that you can edit
freely.

## Procedure

1. Navigate to Platform AnalyticsDashboards and open your dashboard.
2. Select Edit to put the dashboard in edit mode.
3. Add the saved data visualization from the library if it is not already there.
For more information, see [Edit Platform Analytics dashboard elements](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/QeUOUwLOy840tozHlPRfNg "You can edit the contents of a dashboard or dashboard tab, including data visualizations and filters. Because dashboards are shared, any changes you make are applied globally.").
4. On the data visualization, expand the Actions menu.
5. Select Unlink from library.
   Note:
You can unlink a visualization from the library even if you do not have the right to duplicate it.

## Result

The data visualization now exists as a local copy on your dashboard, which you can edit as you please.
