    Vancouver

Collect information about the life cycle changes in Microsoft Azure resources using Azure change processing
Effectively collect information about the changes in the life-cycle states for Azure components through the Azure change processing APIs. This method is more efficient than the legacy event-driven discovery.
    Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns:
Update your discovery capabilities through the following new discovery and service mapping patterns:
Discover the resources in your Kubernetes clusters continuously
Starting in version 3.9.2, use Cloud Native Operations (CNO) for Visibility to discover the resources in your Kubernetes clusters continuously as an alternative to pattern-based discovery. CNO for Visibility promptly reports changes in the resources to the instance and updates the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
Access all mapping functions easily from the new Service Mapping Workspace
Increase efficiency with the redesigned home page that offers access to all functions of Service Mapping:
    • View mapped application services, mapped servers, and unmapped servers.
    • View mapped application services by type, creation method, or criticality on one page.
    • Map a new application service or enhance an existing one by accessing Automated Service Suggestions. For more information, see Automated Service Suggestions.
    Agent Client Collector for Visibility
Use Agent Client Collector for Visibility to support the following platforms:
    • macOS Ventura (13) on ARM64 (M1/M2).
    • Oracle Linux (OL) 9 and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
    Agent Client Collector Framework

Note the following enhancements to the Agent Client Collector Framework application:

Use running process filters to reduce actions on the database
Filter OS processes to reduce the number of records created, updated, or deleted in the database.
    Discovery tables access improvements
Added indexes to four Discovery tables to improve database performance: Discovery status [discovery_status], switch forwarding, [discovery_switch_fwd_table], running process [cmdb_running_process], and TCP connections [cmdb_tcp].
Access tables from the Read Replica database
Reduce the processing load without affecting functionality. During standard horizontal discovery, delete-strategy queries to the Related CI Type [sa_ci_to_pattern] and Horizontal Discovered Payloads Snapshot [sa_payload_snapshot] tables can be redirected to a read replica (secondary database pool) if one has been set up and enabled on the customer instance.
    Firewall Admin Workspace dashboard
Security and risk teams can view tasks, change requests, progress, and manage the overall firewall inventory life cycle in this unified dashboard.
    Certificate Generation through Cert-Manager Integration
Request a certificate through the Kubernetes platform cert-manager with the ServiceNow External Issuer (sn-external-issuer) and store it as a secret.

    Washington DC

    Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns
Update your discovery capabilities through the following Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns:
    ITOM Content Service
Discover applications and devices not discovered using patterns through a framework updated weekly with new content to gain visibility into your growing and developing infrastructure.
    Discovery CLI commands
Use a centralized interface and base system commands to execute Discovery.
Executing discovery patterns with Agent Client Collector
Run horizontal and top-down discovery using Agent Client Collector instead of a MID Server to access CIs on the client network.
Network location and MID affinity in top-down Discovery
Identify the appropriate MID Server to create application services for your network by using MID affinity.
Quick start tests for Service Mapping
After upgrades and deployments of new applications or integrations, run quick start tests to verify that Service Mapping works as expected. If you customized Service Mapping, copy the quick start tests and configure them for your customizations.
Pull additional resources from Kubernetes clusters into the CMDB
Starting in version 3.6.2, configure the Cloud Native Operations for Visibility Informer to pull additional resources from Kubernetes clusters into the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) besides the resources it sends to the database by default.
Create a cmdb_ci_linux_server CI for each Kubernetes node
Starting in version 3.6.2, configure if you want the CNO for Visibility Informer automatically creates a cmdb_ci_linux_server CI for each Kubernetes node. If these CIs are redundant or interfere with other flows in your organization, you can stop this process by setting the associated configuration parameter to false.
Define include and exclude lists of Labels and Annotations
Starting in version 3.6.2, define include and exclude lists of Labels and Annotations in Kubernetes resources that the CNO for Visibility Informer pulls into the CMDB.
Display the Kubernetes cluster version in the CMDB
Starting in version 3.6.2, automatically populate the field in the cmdb_ci_kubernetes_cluster CI that shows the Kubernetes cluster version through CNO for Visibility Informer.
Add custom Labels and Annotations to Kubernetes resources
Starting in version 3.6.2, add custom Labels and Annotations to all resources deployed in the Kubernetes cluster through CNO for Visibility.
    ACME protocol support
Version 3.4.0 introduces the Automated Certificate Management Environment (ACME) protocol support, which automates the process of certificate management.

MID Server features for better discovery performance
    • Run other applications without storing any credentials on the instance with the Microsoft Azure Key vault.
    • MID Server supports log file compression. The new log file handler settings are available as MID Server properties on the instance. The compression mode isn't enabled out of the box.
Use CMDB based mapping to create new application services
Use Automated Service Suggestions and CMDB data instead of the MID Server, to create new application services.
Use the latest CNO for Visibility features
Starting in version 3.6.3, benefit from new features in Cloud Native Operations for Visibility.
    • Upgrade the CNO for Visibility Informer from the ServiceNow instance.
    • Control Informer execution parameters from the instance.
    • Store instance credentials in the Microsoft Azure Vault when Informer uses the Azure Kubernetes Engine (AKS)
    • Enable Informer to connect to the instance using OAuth2.0 authorization
Enjoy multi-architecture support for docker image
Starting in version 3.9.0 (Informer version 2.3.0), the docker image supports both arm64 and amd64 architectures. Upgrading from the previous image to the new one will not cause any disruptions. However, the new image requires more storage space in your image repository than the previous one.
Change the Informer's extensibility settings from the instance
Starting in version 3.9.0 (Informer version 2.3.0), update the Informer's extensibility configuration directly from the Instance using the Additional resources ConfigMap parameter. By providing a JSON map with keys such as resources, mappings, and mappings_oob, you can instruct Cloud Native Operations for Visibility to retrieve additional information. If one of these keys exists and the system finds a change, it patches the ConfigMap and restarts the Informer.
View the OpenShift version in the Cluster version field on the Kubernetes Cluster CI
Starting in version 3.9.0 (Informer version 2.3.0), see the OpenShift version and the Kubernetes Cluster version in one place. OpenShift operates on top of Kubernetes, so there's an OpenShift version and a Kubernetes Cluster version. By installing the Informer with the --set openShift=true flag, the system adds the OpenShift version number to the cluster_version field on the Kubernetes Cluster CI in addition to the Kubernetes Cluster version.
Use Service Fingerprints to refine the selection of application service candidates
Explore unique, classified components of application service candidates provided by Automated Service Suggestions. By supplying specific information such as the product name and description, gain deeper insights into the most suitable candidate to convert to an application service.
