# Associate content categories to topics

# Associate content categories to topics {#ariaid-title1}

Associate content from multiple content categories to a topic in the taxonomy.

## Before you begin

Role required: knowledge_admin, taxonomy_admin

User criteria required: Taxonomy Manager.

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllContent TaxonomyTopics.
2. Select the topic where you want to associate a content category.
3. Select the Add/remove content from categories related link.
4. Select one of the following Content types  
   * Knowledge Categories
   * Catalog item Categories

5. In the corresponding collection list window, do one of the following actions:  
   * Select a category and then click the right arrow icon (![Right-arrow icon.]()) icon.
   * Double-click a category.

   Note:  
   In the Collection list, you can search for knowledge or catalog categories by entering the category name or by using wild cards (\*).
6. Click Save.  
   When you associate a category to a topic, all the Knowledge Base articles or Service Catalog items belonging to the selected categories are associated with the topic.  
   Note:  
   The time taken to associate all the content with a topic depends on the number of Knowledge Base articles or Service Catalog items that a category contains. This is a one-time activity.
