# Create a quick link

# Create a quick link {#ariaid-title1}

You can create quick links using the quick links module in the Employee Center for accessing internal and external resources, such as
knowledge bases, catalog items, pages, and links.

## Before you begin

Role required: sp_admin, taxonomy_manager, or taxonomy_admin

## About this task

You can associate quick links to topics in a taxonomy or to the Employee Center and Employee Center Pro home pages. For more information, see [EC Information architecture](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/v49gPNxyR1xK~1PXxTM7ag "You can now use the out-of-the-box enhanced information architecture for improving content discovery and visibility.").

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllEmployee CenterQuick Links.
2. Click New.
3. On the form, fill in the fields.  
   For more information about the form fields and descriptions, see [Quick Link form](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/xjXFIwXGmS9DxXqWyV2Thg "Use the Quick Link form to create a new quick link and specify the content type for the quick link.").
4. Click Save or Submit.  
   Note:  
   Remember, you can't add a quick link as a featured item.

## What to do next

If you click Save, the Assigned Topics and Available Fortabs appear.

* Assign topics to the quick links. * Restrict access to quick links. For more information on restricting access to a quick link, see [Restrict access to a quick link](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/pckaKeJ1DIXrjg1M7EkSdg "Restrict access to quick links by setting the user criteria, which allows access only to specific users, groups, roles, and more.").

Users with the sp_admin role can add quick links to a home page using the quick links widget instance options. Note:  
The background image for quick link is now visible to external users.
