# Activate or update NIST Risk Management Framework

# Activate or update NIST Risk Management Framework using the ESG content accelerator {#ariaid-title1}

Activate or update NIST Risk Management Framework and select the citations for the framework. It installs the framework and the selected citations, control objectives, and risk statements on your instance.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_grc_ai_gov.ai_risk_and_compliance_manager

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllAI Risk and Compliance Workspace.
2. Select the AI Risk and Compliance Content icon ![]() on the AI Risk and Compliance Workspace.
3. Select the Activate button on the NIST Risk Management Framework card.  
   Make sure you have selected the correct version of the NIST Risk Management Framework.
4. Read the disclaimer statement and select Agree.
5. Choose the required citations from the list and select Next.  
   You can include citations that are marked as Ready.
6. Choose the Control objectives and select Next.  
   The Control objectives are populated based on the selected Citations in the previous step.
7. Choose the Risk statements and select Next.  
   You can include risk statements that are marked as Ready.
8. Review and confirm the selected citations, control objectives, and risk statements.
9. Select Submit.
10. To modify the NIST Risk Management Framework, select the Update button.  
    The Update button appears only when the NIST Risk Management Framework is activated.
11. Repeat the steps from 5.
