# Create an automation resource

# Create an automation resource {#ariaid-title1}

Create an automation resource to associate a resource to an automation task. However,
this is an optional step.

## Before you begin

Note:  
From the Washington DC release, this feature is deprecated.

Create an automation task. For more information, see [Create an automation task](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/TQhcc7epo_tc5l6KG6ESWA "Create an automation task to effectively manage the activities associated with the automation request. However, this is an optional step.").

Role required: sn_ac.automation_technical_user or sn_ac.automation_admin

## About this task

An automation resource is the person who is assigned to work on the automation task.
One automation task can be associated with multiple automation resources.  
Automation resource types:

* Development
* Quality engineering
* Product management

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllAutomation CenterAutomation Center Home.
2. Select the list icon (![List icon.]()).
3. On the Lists tab, under Build, select All Automation Tasks.
4. Open the automation task that you want to create and associate an automation resource.
5. On the Automation Resources tab, select New.
6. On the form, fill in the fields.

7. Select Save.

One goal can be associated with multiple automation requests. But an automation request can be associated with only one goal.").
