Configure an improvement opportunities to view the insights on the Summary and Insights page.

An improvement opportunity creates the rule that searches for insights relevant to a process that is based on a specified table. After you configure a definition, any relevant records show as opportunities for in the Insights section
of the Summary and Insights page.

There are two types of improvement opportunities:

* Rule-based improvement opportunities
* Automated improvement opportunities

{#configuring-finding-definitions__ul_qwv_m5q_zxb}

Both improvement opportunities serve the same purpose, but the way they're created varies.

Rule-based improvement opportunities are created where you can change the table to have a start and stop condition based on a secondary table. They have finding rules and finding constraints, which must be set by you.

Automated improvement opportunities are simpler to create. The process is short and can be completed in a few steps.

For more information on creating finding definitions, see [Setting improvement opportunities from Classic view](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/9zAJFuHEkxDaTUgMPXAdpA "Set improvement opportunities from the Classic view.").
