Request an exception for a remediation task

  • Request an exception to defer a remediation task for a specified period if it can’t be resolved immediately.

    Before you begin

    Important:

    You can request the exceptions from the Vulnerability Manager and IT Remediation Workspaces. See Request an exception in the IT Remediation Workspace.

    Persona and granular roles are available to help you manage what users and groups can see and do in the Vulnerability Response application. For an initial assignment of the persona roles in Setup Assistant, see Assign the Vulnerability Response persona roles using Setup Assistant.     Role required: sn_vul.remediation_owner

    You can also request exceptions for remediation tasks in the classic environment.

    Procedure

    1. Navigate to All > Vulnerability Response > Remediation tasks > All.
    2. Select the group that you want to request an exception for.
      The selected task must be in the Open, Under Investigation, or Awaiting Implementation state.
    3. On the remediation task record (VUL), select Request Exception.
    4. On the form, fill in the fields.

      Field Description
      Until Date on which the exception request expires. This date must be within the exception duration that is defined in the configuration.
      Reason Justification for requesting an exception.
      Additional information Details that are related to the reason why this request is being made. This field is to be updated by the remediation owner.
    5. Click Request Approval.
