## Summary of Using AI skills in ServiceNow Otto for CMDB

ServiceNow Otto for CMDB leverages AI-powered Now Assist skills to enhance the management and maintenance of your Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
These AI skills provide concise summaries, assist in de-duplication, and help diagnose import set errors, ultimately reducing troubleshooting time and improving data accuracy and health.
Show full answer Show less
The AI capabilities respect domain separation, ensuring that users only access data within their assigned domain without any data co-mingling. Furthermore, all generative AI processing is securely handled on the instance without persisting prompts or responses.

## Key Features

* **CI Summarization Skill:** Generates a concise summary of critical Configuration Item (CI) data, including discovery information, ownership, related open incidents, alerts, problems, change requests, security vulnerabilities, and associated service instances. This summary is accessible from CI forms, workspace pages, or list views.
* **Summarize CMDB Readiness Skill:** Provides AI-generated summaries of CMDB health and readiness based on data from CMDB Success Advisor dashboards for Hardware Asset Management (HAM) or Data Foundations. It highlights data accuracy, completeness, and health issues and recommends remediation steps.
* **Manage Duplicate CIs Skill:** Guides CMDB administrators through de-duplication tasks with step-by-step remediation support. Administrators can preview remediation outcomes before applying changes to ensure data integrity.
* **Service Graph Connector Diagnosis Skill:** Helps reduce debugging and resolution time for Service Graph Connector import set errors by generating summaries of errors along with actionable recommendations.

## Practical Considerations for ServiceNow Customers

* To enable access to Otto for CMDB AI skills, create appropriate user roles or groups to control permissions effectively.
* The domain separation model ensures data privacy and scoped access, critical for organizations managing multiple domains.
* Utilizing these AI skills can significantly improve operational efficiency by streamlining CMDB data management, error resolution, and compliance with data health standards.
Use ServiceNow Otto for CMDB skills to view a concise summary of key CI data, to help you to resolve de-duplication tasks, or to reduce debugging and resolution time for failed Service Graph Connector import sets.

## Skill reuse in a domain-separated environment {#now-assist-cmdb-using-skills__section_c5r_nmn_3hc}

By default, all skills exist in the global domain. When you use Now Assist in a domain-separated environment, users are only able to access data in their domain. For example, if a user uses the summarization skill, Now Assist only uses material that exists in the user's domain when generating that summary. Additionally, there is no co-mingling of data for domain-separated instances when using generative AI skills. The data
resides only on the instance, and the shared services used for generative AI do not persist any requests (prompts) and responses. For more information, see [Domain separation in the AI Admin Hub console](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=domain-separation-in-the-now-assist-admin-console&version=yokohama&pubname=yokohama-intelligent-experiences&ft:locale=en-US). (Note that global domain is not the same as global scope. For more information, see [Exploring Next Experience pickers](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=next-experience-pickers&version=yokohama&pubname=yokohama-platform-user-interface&ft:locale=en-US).)

CI summarization skill

: View a concise summary of key CI data. You can select the CI on a CI form, in a workspace page, or on any list view. The summary can include discovery data, ownership, and key related items such as open incidents, alerts, problems, upcoming change requests, and security vulnerabilities. Additionally, the summary lists the service instances that the CI is part of. For more information, see [View CI information with the Now Assist CI summarization skill](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/Fb42XvuZcJ8wmcV~FZaejg "View a concise summary of key CI data.
