# Create and configure participants

# Create and configure participants {#ariaid-title1}

Add and configure participants that act as placeholder for users who will be assigned as signers of a contract document.

## Before you begin

A Microsoft Word document must have been uploaded and parsed to provide clauses for the contract template. For more information, see [Create a contract template](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/zC3RhsWuJwtNw9g6Xvf2Zg "Create a contract template that can be used to generate a standard contract with predefined content when an employee submits a contract request.").

Role required: sn_cm_core.contract_config

## Before you begin

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllContracts CoreContract AdministrationContract Templates.
2. Open a contract template.
3. In the Participants related list, click New.
4. On the form, fill in the fields:

5. Click Submit.

## Result

The participant is added to the document template.
