# Cancel an obligation task {#ariaid-title1}

Cancel an open obligation task in Obligation Management that is no longer required.

## About this task

Note:  
Obligation tasks that are not submitted or awaiting approval are automatically canceled when you deactivate the parent obligation record.

## Before you begin

The task to be cancelled must be in Open, Submitted, or Awaiting approval state.

You must be the group manager of the approver group or the approver of the obligation task.

Role required: sn_cm_obligation.obligation_fulfiller

## Procedure

1. Open an obligation task from the workspace that you are using.

   | Contract Workspace | 1. Navigate to AllContract Workspace. 2. Select the List icon (![List icon]()). 3. Select Obligations. 4. Select Obligation tasks. 5. Select the obligation task. {#cncore-cancel-ob-task__ul_jlw_4cr_5bc} |
   | Workspace used by your application | 1. Navigate to your workspace. 2. Select a contract request that is in Closed complete or Contract signed state. 3. Select the Contract repository tab. 4. Select an active contract record. 5. Select the Obligations tab. 6. Select the obligation task. 7. 2. Select Cancel.
3. In the Cancel obligation task window, add a required comment and select OK.

## Result

The state of the obligation task changes to Canceled.
