# Configure signal actions

# Configure signal actions for Proactive Prompts {#ariaid-title1}

Set signal actions to enable end users who receive a prompt through Virtual Agent to act on it.

## Before you begin

Note:  
Signal actions are used for Virtual Agent. Employee Portal uses the action group for actions.

Role required: sn_pp.admin

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllProactive PromptsSignal Actions.
2. Select New.
3. On the form, fill in the fields:

   | Fields | Description |
   |-|-|
   | Name | Name of the signal action. |
   | Model type | Choose whether you want to use the regular NLU based Virtual Agent topics or LLM based Virtual Agent topics in the VA topic field. Your options are: * NLU/Keyword * LLM {#proactive-prompts-signal-actions__ul_xx4_dzj_wbc} |
   | VA topic | The relevant Virtual Agent topic for the signal action. For more information on creating a Virtual Agent topic, see [Create a Virtual Agent asset](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=create-virtual-agent-topic&version=zurich&pubname=zurich-conversational-interfaces&ft:locale=en-US).    | Active | Option to activate the signal action record. |
