# Add causes and consequences to a privacy case

Define the root cause for the reported privacy case or event and its consequences on the organization using the Privacy Case Management application.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_privacy_case.privacy_case_analyst

## About this task

You can add multiple causes to a privacy case and define a primary cause. Any privacy case can only have one primary cause. You can also add a cause that is suspected but not confirmed. Apart from specifying the primary the
cause, you can specify the consequence and any remediation measures taken to address the case.

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllPrivacy ManagementPrivacy Workspace.
2. Select the list icon ![]().
3. Select All Cases.
4. Open the case for which you want to add a cause and consequence.
5. Select New.
6. On the Cause and consequence form, fill in the fields.

7. Select Save.
