# Encryption options

# Encryption options in EMR Help {#ariaid-title1}

Release version: Zurich
Updated July 22, 2026
![](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/portal-asset/ico-clock) 1 minute to read
EMR Help provides encryption support to secure sensitive
information.

By default, the EMR Help application encrypts the following fields (columns) by using the sn_ind_rmt_help.emr_data encryption module, a Key Management Framework (KMF) crypto module that uses the AES-256
algorithm:

* The Additional Info field in the Remote Request Data \[sn_ind_rmt_help_request_data\] table.
* The Phone number and Email address fields in the EMR Incident Data \[sn_ind_rmt_help_incident_data\] table.

{#emr-help-encryption-support__ul_ywp_5kb_lkc}

The emr_data_viewer module access policy grants the sn_ind_rmt_help.viewer role permission to decrypt and view these encrypted fields. Users without the sn_ind_rmt_help.viewer role see the encrypted
values.

Field Encryption capabilities are required. For more information, see [Activate Field Encryption](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=activate-platform-encryption&version=zurich&pubname=zurich-platform-security&ft:locale=en-US).
