Project analytics widgets and reports in ServiceNow provide comprehensive insights into the progress and status of Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid projects. These analytics are accessible through the Analytics tab in the Project Workspace, enabling project managers to efficiently monitor key project metrics. Note that the Classic Project Workspace is being deprecated, and customers are encouraged to use the new Project Workspace with an enhanced UI for improved project management.

Key Features
- Dashboards by Project Execution Type: Different dashboards are available for Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid projects, automatically displayed based on the project execution type:
- Hybrid Project Summary
- Agile Project Summary (Scrum)
- Waterfall Project Summary (formerly Project Manager Summary Dashboard)
- Custom Dashboards: System administrators can embed custom dashboards by modifying the
PMViewDataUtilsscript include, allowing tailored analytics views within the Analytics tab. - Agile Project Widgets and Reports: These include tracking of stories missing acceptance criteria or points, overdue stories, sprint status by team, stories by state, and progress measured by story points or story count.
- Waterfall and Hybrid Project Widgets and Reports: These include counts of issues, action items, change requests, stories by state (Hybrid only), tasks by state, resource allocation details (both overall and monthly), task assignments, resource plans by state, overdue tasks and milestones, and upcoming unassigned tasks.
- Common Widgets for All Project Types: Provide high-level metrics such as current project phase, status color indicators, percent complete, elapsed time, risk counts, cost and monetary benefit trend analyses, non-monetary benefit plans and comparisons, hours confirmation vs allocation vs actual, and time card approval and exception reports.
Practical Use for ServiceNow Customers
By leveraging these widgets and reports in the Project Workspace Analytics tab, project managers can:
- Gain real-time visibility into project progress and health across Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies.
- Identify potential issues such as overdue tasks, incomplete stories, or unassigned upcoming tasks to enable timely corrective actions.
- Track resource allocation and effort to optimize workload management and improve forecasting.
- Monitor financial and benefit trends to ensure alignment with project goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Customize dashboards to align analytics with organizational requirements and reporting standards.
To use Agile and Hybrid project widgets, ensure the Agile Development 2.0 plugin is installed. System administrators are responsible for configuring dashboards and embedding custom analytics as needed.

Classic Project Workspace is being prepared for future deprecation. It will be hidden and no longer available for installation but will continue to be supported. The project execution type determines the dashboard displayed on the Analytics tab.
You can also embed a custom dashboard in the Analytics tab. Your system admin can modify the PMViewDataUtils script include and configure the variable value for the dashboards_tabs in the getDashboardUrl method. As a result, you can view the custom dashboard in Project Analytics. For example:

| Time Elapsed | Amount of time that has passed while working on the project from the actual start date to the planned end date. If the project is in the Open or Pending state, then the time elapsed is calculated based on the Planned start date and the current date. |
| Risks | Number of risks in the Pending, Achieved, and Not Achieved states concerning the project. |
| Cost Trend Analysis | Line graph showing a comparison between the planned costs and actual costs on a monthly basis. |
| Monetary Benefit Trend Analysis | Line graph showing a trend of planned financial benefits on a monthly basis. |
| Non-monetary Benefit Plans | Breakdown of the number of non-monetary benefit plans for active projects along with its associated benefit plans. |
| Non-monetary Planned vs Actual Benefits | Comparison of total planned and actual non-financial benefits for active projects grouped by fiscal period. |
| Confirmed vs Allocated vs Actual Hours | Comparison of total confirmed, allocated, and actual hours for the project. |
| Time Cards — Pending Approval | Time cards for the selected project that are submitted but not yet approved. |
| Time Card — Exception Report | List of users who did not submit their time cards for the selected project, and time cards that are not yet approved for the selected project. The exception report is generated for users who are assigned to a task in progress, or hard-allocated to the project or task. |
