Configure your MID Server and system properties to automatically
renew certificates before they expire.
To automatically renew your certificates before they expire, use the automated certificate renewal workflow or the certificate renewal AI agent.

In both cases, you must first configure your system for automatic renewal.

Configuring for automated certificate renewal involves the following steps:

1. [Configure MID Server for automatic certificate renewal](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/1GdB1vsPqCaqgeUGxJ1Lug "Collect information about root certificates stored outside your server. Create a specialized Discovery schedule.")
2. [Add required applications and capabilities to your MID Server](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/HxfFQEphVLiRRgSVV0R4IA "Enable your MID Server to auto-renew your certificates by adding the Certificate Inventory and Management and GenerateCSR applications.")
3. [Configure automatic certificate renewal](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/Chva73tPHLWWnPkoPd28Xg "Enable the auto-renewal options in your System Properties to configure your system to renew automatically Transport Layer Security (TLS) certificates before they expire."). This step is optional if you use the certificate renewal AI agent.
