Large enterprises are adopting the service integration and management (SIAM) model to replace single‑vendor outsourcing deals that have failed to deliver against expectations relative to one or more of: cost savings, service improvements, and innovation. Europe is hot for SIAM and North America, where it is called “multisourcing services integration” (MSI), is following suit.
But SIAM isn’t new, with it having emerged late in the last decade to cater for the post‑outsourcing requirement to manage the complexity of multiple suppliers and technology towers that not only replace the single outsourcer but also include new third‑party‑provided services such as SaaS and cloud. Enterprises need to address two distinct needs with SIAM: sourcing and vendor management; and IT service management (ITSM). And they require the ability to provide end‑to‑end visibility, reporting, and accountability for the services delivered by the multiple suppliers – they need a fit‑for‑purpose tool to enable and support SIAM.
