Ovum report details rise of agile development and its influence on project and portfolio management (PPM)
The reality for many organisations is that multi-modal IT – where organisations will need to support and manage a wide range of IT delivery approaches from IT-centric mainframe on premise solutions to pay-as-you-goa external cloud services – is a true reflection of how IT is delivered and consumed.
Ovum believes that operating IT in this complex environment requires all the constituencies to be aligned and working to a single strategic objective focused on holistic strategic demand management. The challenge is that the different delivery approaches have different teams, and often very little cross-team collaboration takes place.
Ovum sees 2016 as the year when agile development will become the dominant development methodology, and a different approach to project and portfolio management (PPM) will be needed to optimise its delivery.
