Digital inclusion in India: A journey of growth and innovation
India is slated to grow faster than all world economies between 2023 and 2027, according to a ServiceNow-sponsored Economist Impact report. Perhaps that’s because 98% of business executives in the country see digital inclusion—the ability to access and use technology in the workplace—as a competitive advantage.
ServiceNow is one of the companies thriving in this market. In fact, we were named among India’s Best Workplaces Building a Culture of Innovation by All, by Great Place To Work.
Our platform labs in India “aim to contribute to products and features that will propel the company to the next level over the next five to 10 years,” says Vinamra M., a staff software engineer who joined ServiceNow in 2014.
“This decade belongs to both India and ServiceNow,” adds Venugopal G., a senior manager in software engineering management at ServiceNow since 2019.
Making the dream work
Venugopal envisions India becoming the next technology hub due to its highly skilled workforce and the technological advancements ServiceNow brings to its customers. Venugopal's ultimate goal is to lead a team that grows organically and allows each member to take pride in their achievements while contributing to the company’s success.
“There are three main ingredients for any organization to make an impact,” according to Yogesh D., a senior manager of software engineering management at ServiceNow in India. “The first is talent. Second is dedication to do the work. And third is the opportunity to grow.”
Yogesh, who joined ServiceNow in 2014, emphasizes the importance of effective communication, data-driven decision-making, and team goal alignment with the company's purpose.
Taking pride in a job well done
Suneela P., a senior software engineer who joined ServiceNow in 2018, takes pride in managing platforms that ensure the smooth processing of business orders. She’s played a crucial role in the NowX internal incubator product for supply chain management, overseeing procurement services, product management, and the product’s first release.
Having firsthand customer insights on the product’s use has shaped Suneela's perspective in designing them for impact. “When I build a product, I don’t just think about what we want to deliver. I always keep the customer in mind,” Suneela says.
Making memories and cool things
In addition to working on generative AI and biannual Now Platform releases, employees in India get unique opportunities.
One of Vinamra’s most memorable moments on the job was collaborating with ServiceNow founder Fred Luddy in San Diego. “Seeing that kind of energy and personality motivates you to do your best work,” Vinamra says, adding that his drive for excellence is fueled by Fred’s infectious passion and hands-on approach to problem-solving.
ServiceNow employees in India will continue to drive the company’s growth and success while propelling digital inclusion in the country.
