How does a newly acquired Certification (CSA) get employment opportunities? I have been on LinkedIn etc. looking for opportunities and it seems like an impossible task. I am not questioning the investment of time and resources. Can anyone provide suggestions on how and where to get opportunites

Ahoy @CarlyleB,

LinkedIn is still the best option to get job opportunities both related to ServiceNow or another ones.

When you say "CSA job", I think it is not correct to think about it in this way. CSA is an absolute must and doesn't give you anything extra in the tough competition. Instead, you can focus on a specific role - analyst, project manager, admin, developer, etc and follow that path.

You said you weren't asking for resources but I believe this could help you, there are predefined paths and journeys by ServiceNow to help you extend your skills and knowledge:

ServiceNow Career Journeys & ServiceNow Career Paths

  • Pick a ServiceNow Career Path that matches your interests.
  • We’ll help you start at the right level based on your skills.
  • A ServiceNow Credential gives you industry recognition.
  • It proves your investment and boosts your professional value.

This could increase your chances to get hired, companies are looking for specific positions e.g. ITSM consultant or HRSD developer etc,

Hi @CarlyleB ,

If you are working on any organization, try to get a suitable role over there so that you can get some project experience.

Else Search job  in Search job forum of this ServiceNow community.

Lots of job portal are there, where you will definitely get calls for interview.

Meanwhile continue reading community members query (use cases) and try to do it in  in your Personal Developer Instance (PDI)

Hi @CarlyleB,

CSA is a basic certification asks as mandatory. Mainly you will receive more jobs calls on configurator/admin roles or else support roles.

Start preparing yourself on ITSM/CSM/ITOM in the home | ServiceNow University | ServiceNow. So that you will get more opportunities. LinkedIn is the best platform to get opportunities for ServiceNow, check under the Jobs section in the LinkedIn.

If the provided solution is useful/working, please Accept as Solution and hit the Helpful.

Hi @CarlyleB,

Yeah, I get what you’re feeling; it does feel almost impossible in the beginning, especially after putting in effort to get the ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and then not seeing results.

The thing is, CSA alone doesn’t really convince companies to hire. Most of them assume fresh CSA candidates don’t have real hands-on experience yet. So it’s not about the certification being useless; it’s just incomplete on its own.

What usually helps is showing something practical. Even small things like building a basic incident management flow or a service catalog item on your own instance make a difference. When you talk about those in interviews or put them on your GitHub or LinkedIn, recruiters start taking you more seriously.

Also, instead of just applying everywhere, try connecting with people already working in ServiceNow. A simple message asking for guidance works better than mass applying. A lot of people actually get their first break through referrals or conversations, not job portals.

Another thing: don’t hesitate to start small. Internships, trainee roles, or even short-term projects can help you get that first bit of experience. Once you have even 6 months of real work, things become much easier.

So yeah, it’s not impossible; it’s just a slow start. Focus on building some hands-on proof + networking a bit, and you’ll start seeing opportunities come in.

Let me know what you think!!! ðŸ˜‰
