Steps to reproduce the issue:
- Navigate to “ESC Portal” under Self-Service.
- In the search bar, type job.
- After searching the above keyword, you will be redirected to the “/esc?id=search” page
- On the search page, in the All tab, we have the Filters section.
- Under the filter section, we have the Topics section
- Right now, we have 3 topics: People, Human Resources, and Help Center
Our requirement was to remove the Human Resources topic from the search page.
Solution:
1. Go to the topic.LIST page, open the affected topic - "Human Resources."
2. Scroll down to the page, and you will find child topics deactivated.
3. Try to activate Topic - "Human Resources" again, and when you save the record, a pop-up will appear and ask, "Do you want to activate this topic only or all child topics and subtrees associated with this topic?" Click on the "All topics" button.
4. Now deactivate the Topic - "Human Resources" again. When you save the record, a pop-up will appear and ask, "Deactivating this topic will deactivate this topic and all child topics and subtrees associated with this topic." Click on the "Deactivate" button.
5. And after that, re-index the "Knowledge Table" and "Catalog Item Table".

7. Try to log out and log in to the instance again.
