Siri, Google now or Cortana came into existence in our lives as a smart personal assistant to get things done just by talking. While these smart interactive advanced technological aspects may take some time to be utilized to its fullest potential in our workplace, efforts are being made across the global to tap this opportunity every single minute.


Taking a small leaf out of these technological advancement, our first step in this direction is adopting a voice recognition technique to the enterprise cloud service management tool (ServiceNow). We have integrated Voice to Text feature with the support of Google Chrome browser and Google Speech APIs.


Why we believe it is significant?


Timely collaboration has become essential and part of our work culture. A routine work schedule of an individual is packed with meetings, training, requirements gathering and designing solutions etc. A research says 37% of an employee time spent in meetings and managers attend more than 60 meetings in a month. It's a known fact that it is imperative to document and manage the outcome of the meetings effectively. Here is our endeavour to capture these key notes real-time with limited manual intervention through voice to text integration.

Voice to Text feature in ServiceNow helps you save your valuable time and easy to integrate with any of your application. We have integrated this feature with our Power meeting app, which is the easiest and effective way of organizing, conducting a meeting and driving its outcome. (Note: Power meeting app is designed on ServiceNow platform). You can record your meeting notes and action items by talking.


Navigation in 3 easy steps


STEP 1: Clicking on Microphone image which will navigate you to the Voice to Text page.

STEP 2: Choose the language, accent you prefer, click on the microphone icon and start speaking

STEP 3: You can see your voice converted as text. Click on save button to update the meeting notes.

Skillset - Jelly knowledge is required, Experience in UI Macros and UI Pages.


Requirements - Google chrome browser, High speed internet connectivity for maximum accuracy (as the voice reaches Google servers to recognize and the resultant interpreted text to reach the browser again) and noise free environment.


Functional Application to give it a thought (but not restrictive to areas below) - IT Service desk can minimize their effort by integrating this feature into call and chat modules.
