Business Analyst Roles ServiceNow

Hi everyone,

I’m currently enrolled in the Now Learning program for Business Process Analyst by ServiceNow. While my IT experience is limited to a couple of years as a Desktop Support Consultant, I have extensive skills in data analysis from my recent positions.

Given my background and strong interest in transitioning into this career at 40, I’m seeking advice on my prospects. Is it realistic to expect a good chance of getting hired after completing this program, or should I anticipate significant challenges? Additionally, what steps can I take to improve my chances of success in this field?

Thank you for your insights!

Feel free to adjust any details to better fit your specific situation.

Best,

Graham M

HI @GM1215  / Graham,

Greetings!!

I am ServiceNow Business Analysts and working in ecosystem from last 10 years. Let me share my thoughts / inputs.

- Transition at age of 40 is lil tough but not impossible, I can say you can make it as you has previous experience and that can push you forward and make it possible for you.

- To enter in BA world, it is important to learn SN from root level, lets understand the platform from functional side / its architecture /process binding and module interrelation.

- Once we get basic, then we can pick up products like ITSM / CSM / GRC etc.

- As BA we need to understand these modules from functional side more than technical.

- To learn these Admin , i will say need 4-6 months and hands on as well and after that go for next products.

Now next part

- I am not sure which part of world you are now, but market of SN is not good, reason is there is a demand but demand of experienced only

- Experienced means in SN domain and at least know 2-3 products stacks fully.

Hello,

Thank you for getting back to me.

I am currently enrolled in the Now Learning Associate Business Process Analyst journey. My question is, upon completing this program, will it be sufficient for me to be considered for employment given my current experience? I understand that this is a journey and not a certification. If certifications are required, could you please specify which ones would be necessary?

Additionally, could you provide information on how I can obtain hands-on training? I am eager to return to the IT field, and the BA role is particularly appealing to me.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,

Hi @GM1215

Thanks for marking my answer as helpful. Yes, this is a journey and may also have some certifications. But if not, I will say do the Admin - CSA certification which is the first and basic one and after that, I will say ITSM and other micro Certs to understand the platform more deeply.  Once you watch the video, on this journey page that will give you more ideas.

Now, how to get hands-on. Hands-on is another big stuff, you might learn from training but unless you do practice and practice, you will not get a clear picture. For this, you can build a small project of your own or once you get comfortable and think you have a basic understanding, start answering on community, which is best hands-on.
