Hi everyone,
I’ve recently completed my ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification and am looking to start my career in the ServiceNow ecosystem.
I come from a non-technical academic background, and one of the challenges I’m facing is that most entry-level IT roles in India seem to require a strong technical background or prior experience.
I’m currently working on building hands-on experience through my Personal Developer Instance and developing projects to strengthen my understanding of the platform.
For those who started their ServiceNow careers from a non-technical background, I’d love to hear about your experience.
How did you land your first ServiceNow job after completing the CSA?
Which skills or projects helped you stand out to recruiters?
Should I focus on roles like ServiceNow Administrator, Junior Developer, or ServiceNow support to get started?
How important is scripting and coding knowledge for landing an entry-level role?
Any advice, experiences, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @sparshvarde
As you have completed CSA, I will suggest you to start/continue hands-on tasks in Your personal Developer instance (PDI), including user administration, form and field configuration, business rules, and basic scripting. These practical skills helped me understand real-world issues and troubleshoot them effectively.
When applying for jobs, you should highlight your CSA certification, hands-on practice, problem-solving skills, and your willingness to learn.
My opinion on the role you should focus is Servicenow Administrator /support which is not full technical.
However, having basic scripting and configuration knowledge is always an advantage. It helps you understand problems better, troubleshoot issues effectively, and resolve them more confidently as a support or Administrator.
