Hello everyone,
I’m new here and starting a new journey with the goal of working as an ITSM implementer.
I have past experience implementing ITSM solutions as a consultant (including some ServiceNow work between 2014–2021). I’m also an ITIL Expert and certified trainer. Recently, I’ve joined ServiceNow University to refresh and update my skills.
My question:
Do you have any additional guidance, resources, or tips that could help me become truly “job ready” with ServiceNow by July 2026 (when my current contract ends)?

I’m a ServiceNow trainer and happy to share my thoughts on this. ServiceNow is becoming increasingly broad and deep these days, and the best way to kickstart your journey is by earning the CSA (Certified System Administrator) certification. The CSA provides a solid understanding of the platform, its terminology, and core modules. Once you get hands-on experience with the platform through CSA, you can decide on your next path.
Employers value professionals with experience across multiple modules, so it’s important to expand your knowledge and add more products to your portfolio. Consider focusing on areas like ITSM, GRC, HRSD, CSM, or SecOps.
Currently, the training is free, which is a fantastic opportunity. However, the real challenge is gaining hands-on experience. To overcome this, the ServiceNow community is an excellent resource. Dedicate at least 1-2 hours a day engaging with the community — read questions others are asking and contribute your own responses. Over time, this will improve your skills and boost your confidence.
Additionally, mastering scripting is essential if you want to become a developer. There are many courses and exercises available on developer.servicenow.com to help you practice and enhance your scripting skills, which will strengthen your portfolio.
Start with the CSA certification and then choose your next step based on your interests — whether that’s development, becoming a Business Analyst, Change Manager, or Project Manager. A solid foundation will give you the flexibility to pursue any domain you prefer.

As you said that you have already worked as ITSM implementer so clearing CSA [as this is foundation course in Servicenow which will give you a solid foundation on Servicenow Platform features] and CIS- ITSM [Certified Implemenmtor - ITSM] will be helpful for your career. ITIL expertise will be a plus for you. So i can say good luck.

Go through ServiceNow fundamentals on-demand course and get certified in ServiceNow CSA.
You can go through scripting and development concepts as it would help you with any ServiceNow modules and definitely with ITSM Implementation,

Register and get a free PDI to practice what you learn as hands-on would be the most essential part of your learning phase

Developer learning plans are easier to understand the modules compared to official documentation and would recommend to start learning in phases, start with New to ServiceNow and later ServiceNow Administration followed by ServiceNow Application Developer,

Go through ITSM and Application Development Fundamentals on-demand courses and get certified in CIS-ITSM and CAD.
