Seeking Insights on TPM Roles in the ServiceNow Domain

Hi ServiceNow Aspirers,

I'm Roopa, and I'm keen to understand the job prospects for a new Technology Project Manager (TPM) in the ServiceNow domain. Could anyone share their insights on this?

I'm considering pursuing the Associate TPM ServiceNow course and would love to know more about the market demand for this role and the prerequisites.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards, Roopa

Hi @swarupamp

Greetings!!

I’m currently working as a BPC and handling closing work with TPM in my account. The role is definitely good, and there’s demand in the market, but I wouldn’t consider it like the traditional project management role. It’s more on the technical side, where sometimes you need to challenge teams on timelines, but the ultimate goal is the timely delivery of projects. In this role, relationships and communication matter more than technical skills.

If you ask me, I’d recommend starting with a BA/BPA role, which is more in demand right now. Once you gain hands-on experience with the platform, you can switch roles later. But, again, these are just my thoughts!

Hi @swarupamp

I've completed all three stages of the TPM journey.

It's a great program but the truth is it (especially the Associate level) will only give you introductory knowledge of TPM in the context of ServiceNow, and you won't even end up with a certification (just a badge).

The best starting point for a ServiceNow career is the Certified System Administrator certification, so I recommend you focus on that first. Fortunately, the mandatory course for the CSA is also part of the TPM Associate journey, so you can kill two birds with one stone.

Happy studying and best wishes with your career!

Thanks @Dr Atul G- LNG  I highly appreciate your inputs. As a vivid learner is it advisable to complete  TPM course.

Please suggest which certification to go ahead with.

Thanks a bunch

Hi @Dr Atul G- LNG

Thanks for your inputs.  I have about 7+ years of PM experience (non Service Now applications) and wanted out try out in SM now.

Would you still recommend the BA/BPC certifications for a career start in SM?

Highly appreciate your valuable inputs.

TIA
