Hi @Shanthi05
I’m a ServiceNow trainer and happy to share my thoughts with anyone beginning their ServiceNow journey.
ServiceNow is growing rapidly in both breadth and depth. The best way to start is by earning the CSA (Certified System Administrator) certification, which builds a solid foundation in platform fundamentals, terminology, and core modules. Once you gain hands-on experience through CSA, you can decide your next learning path.
Employers value professionals with multi-module expertise, so after completing CSA, consider exploring areas like ITSM, GRC, HRSD, CSM, or SecOps to broaden your portfolio.
Currently, the training is free, which is a great opportunity — though the real challenge lies in gaining hands-on experience. To overcome this, spend at least 1–2 hours a day engaging with the ServiceNow Community — read discussions, answer questions, and share your insights to strengthen your understanding and confidence.
If your goal is to become a developer, focus on building scripting skills using resources available on developer.servicenow.com. Regular practice will enhance your technical expertise.
Start with the CSA and then choose your direction based on your interests — whether as an Admin, Developer, Business Analyst, Change Manager, or Project Manager. A strong foundation will give you the flexibility to explore any of these paths.
Welcome to this vibrant community space where you can connect, collaborate, and grow. Share your ideas, seek guidance, and contribute to collective learning.
To take the next step, register on Now Learning and begin your ServiceNow learning journey today.

Hi @Shanthi05
There isn’t a dedicated course for Scrum Master, but you can complete a Scrum Master certification externally. However, you should also learn Agile product of ServiceNow, as that’s where you use stories and related features. Learning this can also be helpful on the SPM side, along with reporting and dashboards

@Shanthi05 - Excelling as a Scrum Master within the ServiceNow ecosystem requires a blend of standard Agile leadership and a deep understanding of how ServiceNow’s Agile Development 2.0 and Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) modules function.
Since you are already working with ServiceNow ITSM and service catalogs, you have a strong technical foundation. Transitioning into a Scrum Master role involves moving from "building" to "facilitating."
1. Professional Certifications
There isn't a single "ServiceNow Scrum Master" mainline certification, but rather a combination of industry-standard Scrum credentials and ServiceNow-specific technical certifications.
Core Scrum Certifications (Essential)
These are recognized globally and provide the framework knowledge you need:
- CSM (Certified ScrumMaster): Offered by Scrum Alliance. Highly respected and focuses on the "servant leader" mindset.
- PSM I (Professional Scrum Master): Offered by Scrum.org. Known for being more rigorous and doesn't require expensive mandatory renewals.
ServiceNow Technical Certifications (Highly Recommended)
To excel, you must know how to configure the tools your team uses.
- Micro-Certification: Agile and Test Management Implementation: This is a vital starting point. It proves you know how to implement Agile Development 2.0 and Test Management 2.0 in a ServiceNow instance.
- CIS-SPM (Certified Implementation Specialist – Strategic Portfolio Management): This is the "Gold Standard" for Scrum Masters in this space. It covers the full lifecycle from Idea and Demand to Epic and Sprint execution.
