Welcome to our Community Week MVP Insights series! Join ServiceNow MVP Vaishnavi Lathkar as she describes her journey in becoming a 3x ServiceNow MVP!
Reflecting on my professional journey, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude and pride for how far I’ve come. The ServiceNow ecosystem has not only shaped my career but also transformed the way I think about technology, collaboration, and community.
When I look back to where it all began, I see a young developer filled with curiosity—eager to learn, build, and contribute. Today, with 4.5 years of experience and the honor of being recognized as a ServiceNow MVP three times, I can confidently say that every step of the journey has been worth it.
The Beginning of My ServiceNow Journey
My story with ServiceNow began when I started my career as a developer. From the very first day, I was fascinated by the platform’s ability to bring structure, automation, and intelligence into the world of enterprise workflows. What started as writing scripts and designing catalog items soon grew into something much bigger—solving eager real-world problems through technology.
In those early days, every task was a learning opportunity. Whether it was configuring business rules, designing workflows, or exploring the power of Flow Designer and IntegrationHub, I was always hungry to understand how things worked and why they mattered.
The more I learned, the more I realized that ServiceNow wasn’t just a tool—it was an ecosystem where innovation met possibility. I was drawn not only to its technical potential but also to the vibrant, supportive community that surrounded it.
Growing Through Challenges and Curiosity
Like every developer, my journey was full of challenges—debugging issues late at night, facing complex client requirements, or figuring out the best practices for scalable development. But those challenges became my greatest teachers.
Each project helped me grow, each problem strengthened my resilience, and each success reinforced my belief that passion and persistence are the true drivers of growth.
Over the years, I worked on diverse implementations and gained hands-on experience across various ServiceNow modules. Every engagement added new dimensions to my understanding—from ITSM to custom app development—helping me evolve from a developer into a more well-rounded ServiceNow professional.
Discovering the Power of the ServiceNow Community
The turning point in my journey came when I discovered the ServiceNow Community. What began as a place to search for answers quickly turned into a platform for growth and contribution.
I started by reading discussions, then gradually began answering questions, sharing my learnings, and engaging with other professionals. The experience was eye-opening—it helped. It wasn’t just about solving technical queries; it was about connecting with people across the globe who shared the same passion and curiosity for ServiceNow.
With time, my engagement deepened. The community became my virtual classroom, my think tank, and my network. I learned that knowledge multiplies when shared—and that realization motivated me to keep contributing.
Consistency, Contribution, and the MVP Journey
It was this consistent engagement and enthusiasm that ultimately led to one of the biggest milestones in my career—being recognized as a ServiceNow MVP.
When I received the first MVP email, I was both excited and humbled. It felt like an acknowledgment of my dedication to the community and my continuous learning journey. The MVP badge wasn’t just a title—it represented a connection to a global group of experts who live and breathe ServiceNow every day.
Becoming an MVP once was special, but being recognized three times has been an even greater honor. Each year has deepened my sense of responsibility to contribute, mentor, and inspire others. Through this program, I’ve met countless incredible people—developers, architects, and innovators—all united by the same vision of making work better for everyone.
What the MVP Experience Has Taught Me
Being part of the ServiceNow MVP program has opened doors I never imagined. From collaborating with fellow MVPs to exchanging ideas with platform experts, every interaction has enriched my perspective.
Some of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned include:
-
Knowledge grows when shared. The more you contribute to the community, the more you learn yourself.
-
Consistency beats perfection. Even small, regular contributions can create a lasting impact.
-
Stay curious and adaptable. The platform is evolving constantly, and so should we.
-
Community is about people, not titles. It’s about collaboration, encouragement, and helping others succeed.
These values have not only shaped my career but have also guided how I approach every challenge—with a learning mindset and a spirit of collaboration.
Why Community Matters More Than Ever
In today’s fast-paced tech world, communities like ServiceNow’s play a crucial role in bridging knowledge gaps, connecting experts, and empowering individuals to grow together.
What I love most about this ecosystem is its inclusiveness. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a beginner exploring your first module or an expert building enterprise-level applications—everyone has something valuable to share.
The ServiceNow Community has given me a sense of belonging and purpose. It has taught me that sharing your journey, even the small wins, can inspire someone else to take the next step in theirs.
Looking Ahead—Empowering Others and Embracing the Future
As I look toward the future, my goal is simple yet meaningful—to continue giving back. I want to mentor more developers, support rising stars, and help others become future MVPs.
Coaching and guiding others brings me immense satisfaction, because I’ve experienced firsthand how the right guidance can change someone’s path. The MVP title may be an honor, but the true reward lies in helping others discover their potential and achieve their own milestones.
With ServiceNow’s vision of “Putting AI to Work,” we are entering an exciting new chapter. The blend of automation, intelligence, and user experience that the platform continues to deliver makes me excited for what’s next. I look forward to exploring how AI can further streamline processes, empower users, and redefine the future of digital workflows.
Final Reflections
Becoming a Service Now MVP has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my professional life. But beyond the recognition, what truly matters is the journey—the late nights spent learning, the meaningful conversations within the community, the small contributions that created ripples, and the friendships formed along the way.
If you’re at the beginning of your ServiceNow journey, here’s my advice:
-
Be consistent. Every effort counts, even the smallest one.
-
Never stop learning. The platform evolves, and so should you.
-
Share your story. You never know who you might inspire.
-
Engage with the community. It’s the best place to grow, both technically and personally.
The ServiceNow ecosystem has given me more than just a career—it has given me a purpose and a family of like-minded professionals who inspire me every day.
As I continue my journey, I remain committed to contributing, learning, and helping others rise within this incredible community. After all, success is not measured by titles, but by the impact we create and the people we lift along the way.
