Preparing to be a ServiceNow Developer

Hi there,

I'm transitioning careers and have begun my studies in ServiceNow using the Now Platform and YouTube tutorials.
Could someone provide some pointers on crucial topics to prioritize at this early stage, or outline the skills that the industry typically looks for in a ServiceNow Junior?

Thanks!

Mariana

Hi Mariana,

Welcome to the world of ServiceNow.

There are a lot of options and career paths to choose from. It purely depends on individual's stream of work experience and which module is most intriguing for one as a career path. ServiceNow has a good bunch of learnings in their Now Learning portal which can be curated according to your career path.

If you're interested to learn scripting in ServiceNow, I strongly recommend to go through this playlist of video tutorials created by Chuck Tomasi and Earl Duque - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3rNcyAiDYK2_87aRvXEmAyD8M9DARVGK

Wish you good luck.

The best way to learn is generally by doing.

So get a PDI and mess around with it in a low impact environment where you can reset when things go wrong.

Just go around look at how things work and build and modify some things to get used to working with the platform.

Other than that take a look at the Now Learning environment and see if there's any particular parts of the platform that pique your interest.

There's no wrong approach, you'll have to find what works for you.

Kind Regards,
Jasper
