In this week's Employee Center Academy session - Design Techniques to kick start your Employee Center Experience - the presenters will identify usability testing as a critical part to ensure the efficacy and desirability of your Employee Center experience. This is a common technique used in the delivery of digital products to get feedback from actual users before going live with the experience.
It is not the same as user acceptance testing (UAT) since UAT focuses on identifying technical isseues (bugs) rather than experience issues. Where UAT provides scripted testing steps to the testers, usability testing asks the users to complete tasks and then an observer identifies issues that prevent the user from completing the task.
