Search results count differs from actual visible records due to security – UX concern

Hi everyone,
I’d like to better understand the reasoning behind the following OOTB behavior related to search results and security.
When users perform a search, the total number of results displayed can differ from the actual number of records they can open or see after clicking into a specific result type (for example, Catalog Items). This happens due to security permissions, and the platform displays an info icon explaining that behavior.
While I understand the technical and security constraints, from a UX perspective this can be confusing for users, as they expect consistency between the result count and what is actually accessible.
My questions are:
What was the design rationale behind showing result counts that include items restricted by security?
Are there any best practices or recommended configurations to improve this user experience?
Has this behavior been discussed or reconsidered in recent releases?
I’m curious to hear how others are handling this and whether there are roadmap considerations around this topic.
Thanks in advance!
