Redirecting users to new EC home page from saved as favourite in the browser

Hello,

Would appreciate advice on how to manage transition from ec_dashboard to ec_pro_home page in terms of users who might have saved xxxxxx.service-now.com/esc?id=ec_dashboard as favourite in their browser.

I tested this in sub-prod by first saving the link xxxxxx.service-now.com/esc?id=ec_dashboard as favourite in Edge.

Then I replaced Home page in Service Portal : ec_dashboard (old) to ec_pro_home (new). URL suffix is esc.

If I go to my favourite saved link, obviously currently it opens xxxxxx.service-now.com/esc?id=ec_dashboard.

What would be the best practice to deal with this - to ensure that ec_dashboard is no longer used by users?

Thanks in advance.

Option 1:

If users have saved the ec_dashboard URL directly to their ServiceNow Favorites, removing sharing won't automatically remove the link from their menu, but clicking it will result in a "Sorry!" message.

  • Navigate to System Definition > Favorites            // sys_ui_bookmark.list
  • Search for ec_dashboard in the URL or Title field or if you can search by your identified user
  • Delete the relevant records.

2.

  • Navigate to Self-Service > Dashboards
  • Search for the ec_dashboard.
  • Click the Hamburger Menu (Three lines) in the top right > Dashboard Properties.
  • Click the Sharing button.
  • Remove everyone,  specific groups, or roles that currently have access.

Hi there,

Would Page Route Map be an option for you?

Hi @AlsuT ,

why not do as @Mark Roethof  has described here:https://www.servicenow.com/community/service-portal-articles/deactivate-a-portal-and-optionally-redi...

Appreciate all responses. Unfortunately, neither relevant to my query or worked.

My question was about potential dealing with saved page link xxxxxx.service-now.com/esc?id=ec_dashboard as favourite in browser, not ServiceNow favourites or portal deactivation.

Tried setting up Page Route Map as Mark suggested but it did not make a difference in terms of redirecting. I am guessing, there is no ServiceNow solution to tackle old favourite links that were saved by users in their browser?
