Question for you. What if your instance does not show this when going to User Preferences > Display (see snapshot below) Is this something that an admin can turn on? If so, what are the steps? I have this on my PDI, but not on Work Instance.

For us its in the Next Experience menu in Preferences.

can have a look into this system properties "glide.next_experience.user_selected_landing_page_enabled" system property to TRUE, if you don't have one create as per the image shared, 
this should enable you the preferences  in the Next Experience menu
