This week's best practices KB article features a video tutorial and tips for using Dictionary Overrides. System administrators can learn how to effectively override field settings on extended tables with Dictionary Overrides, and use this capability to change the initial values for incident and problem tables.
Dictionary Overrides allows you to override several aspects of a field in extended tables, including:
- Dictionary attributes
- Default values
- Reference qualifiers
- Default column display values
- Calculations
So even if a field is defined on a Task table, for example, a dictionary override can change the default value on the Incident table without affecting how it appears on the extended Task or Change tables.
For more information, see Dictionary Overrides.
