What is Flash Feedback?
Flash Feedback is a mechanism for employees to request and receive quick, timely, in the moment and contextual feedback from anyone and any time.
- Feedback is strictly confidential. No one except the employee who receives the feedback can view it (not even their manager has access to employee feedback).
- Ongoing, just-in-time feedback is helpful for employees for self-reflection which can prevent them to slip through the cracks and address blind spots in a timely manner.
- Feedback is not intended to be used for employee's performance reviews in any way. It’s just for the employees, so they can use the app as much as they like for their self-development
Background

Self Awareness and Self Development is key to people’s success. One of the quickest ways for self improvement is feedback. Feedback is a gift. We all need people who can give us candid feedback, just in time on a daily basis for instant remediation and self reflection. Person-to-Person feedback creates a safe environment and the goal of this app is to inspire employees to proactively engage in their self-development through feedback. It results in employees being more self-aware and motivates them to take actions through insights from people they trust and whose opinion matters to them.
Moreover, it builds a foundation for an open, safe and thriving company culture for sharing feedback and generates mutual trust and built on shared purpose of mutual success where employees can rely on each-other for their growth and satisfaction.

Common Terminologies

Focus area: an area where you want to grow and improve (e.g., listening skills, subject matter expertise, people management. The app provides out of the box focus areas, and the employee can add their own personalized focus areas as well

Adviser: someone you’ve chosen to give you meaningful feedback on your selected focus area

Member: you—the person requesting feedback
How it works
There are three key components:

Request Feedback
Before requesting feedback, employee has to setup their focus areas and have at least one advisor who will provide them the feedback.
- Manage focus area(s). Employees can choose from predefined focus areas under “Popular” tab or add their own focus areas under “Personalized” section.
- Add advisor(s). Employees have to add an advisor who can give feedback on their focus area(s). Employees have to request someone to become an adivor, and when that person accepts their request, the employee is ready to ask for feedback.
- Request feedback. Tap the desired focus area and advisor for requesting feedback. Then use the app’s default message or personalize a note to your advisor and send. That’s it! Stay tuned for feedback.
Provide feedback
Go to Action Center > Feedback Request Waiting
- All pending actions, including requests to provide feedback, will appear in the Action Center. Follow the in-app instructions to provide feedback.
Note: you can only provide feedback if an employee has requested you for one.
View feedback
Go to Action Center > View Latest Feedback Received >
All pending actions, including viewing received feedback will appear in the Action Center. Follow the in-app instructions to review feedback. You can also view feedback from the Manage section of the app.
Recent Interactions with Advisors
The app provides a feature where you are notified of any meetings that you have attended with the advisors. This serves as a reminder to seek feedback from them, if needed.
What else do I need to know?
- Employees need to have at least one focus area and one adviser setup before you can request feedback. Your pending actions are always in Action Center
- How is this different from other Feedback tools?
- This feedback is not tied to employees annual review or performance. This feedback is NOT about the employees, it is FOR the employees. Employees decide when and how much to use.
- This is also not a peer-review tool. This is most valuable to be used during a plethora of moments where you wish you could have instant feedback from someone.
Examples of where I can use this feedback app
Scenario:
- You just gave a sales presentation, and you would like to get feedback from someone who is an expert. You can reach out to the expert, add them as an adviser and request them to watch you give your presentation. Right after the presentation you can use the app to request feedback
Scenario:
- You have been asked to stengthen your storytelling and wireframing skills. You can start taking a course and frequently share your work with an expert and have them give you feedback using the app. Overtime, you can track your progress in the app
Scenario
- You want to learn how to manage upwards better. You can use this app to seek feedback from somone who has been observing you in various settings and in yours communications to senior management. They can provide feedback using this app on how you are doing managing upwards
