EIRCODE on Catalog Item Variable

Hello!

Not sure if I'm asking in the right place, but since this is specify to Ireland I decided to have a go!

Has anyone attempted to integrate EIRCODE into a variable on a Catalog Item? I would like to enhance the user experience by giving the chance to fill the address field by just typing the EIRCODE to avoid entry errors of non/odd addresses.  
Is there any issues I should consider if the integration is possible, such as vulnerability of the platform? 

Any tips will be valid, I appreciate!
