Today, Microsoft announced Windows 365, a cloud service that introduces a new way to experience Windows 10 or Windows 11. Windows 365 takes the operating system to the Microsoft Cloud, securely streaming the full Windows experience, and we are happy to share details of how you can use ServiceNow to automate workflows around Windows 365. Using ServiceNow with Windows 365, our joint customers can request and receive desktop PCs in the cloud, in accordance with enterprise governance policies. This is yet another of many ways we are deepening our strategic partnership with Microsoft and unleashing new levels of employee productivity together.

Windows 365 makes desktops accessible from anywhere, broadening access to content and processing power. Instead of just device-based operating systems, Windows 365 is another step towards hybrid personalized computing world. That new personalized computing world is where ServiceNow significantly enhances employee experiences, making access, use, and distribution of those hybrid resources available on demand and all from within Microsoft Teams.

So how could this all fit together?

  1. Using the ServiceNow Virtual Agent embedded in Microsoft Teams, end users can request a new Windows 365 Device.

  2. Since device requests generally require approvals, this request can be natively approved via Outlook, Teams, email or directly within ServiceNow.

  3. The approval unlocks the workflow, triggering ServiceNow IntegrationHub to establish a secure connection to Azure Active Directory to assign the appropriate license to the requesting user.

  4. Azure AD can then be used to assign the right roles and permissions to this user such that Microsoft Endpoint Manager understands that they require a Windows 365 Device.

  5. Provisioning can then begin! Our requester is notified on their preferred channel when their device is available, via teams, text message, email or push notification.

As with physical devices, lifecycle tracking, procurement, distribution, and security all still matter with Windows 365. ServiceNow has been a long-time innovator and leader in this space; updating and extending those processes for hybrid personalized computing is made easier with ServiceNow. Finally, using ServiceNow Virtual Agent, Flow Designer and the power of IntegrationHub with Azure AD spoke, customers can instantly enable our platform integration with Windows 365, or extend it by embedding this functionality into their custom workflows, such as employee onboarding.

When will integration be generally available: In September/October this year, we will be shipping Virtual Agent topics and workflows that will unlock this integrated functionality instantly.
