Earlier this year, the Digital Portfolio Management team conducted a program called Launch and Learn. The Launch and Learn is a series of calls hosted by ITSM Product Management where in each session we focus on a different pillar of the product with the goal of giving customers more context into why the feature was built, how it functions, and why it is important.
The series includes these 8 sessions:
- Session 1: Introduction to DPM and Launch and Learn (Watch)
This is the best place to start. We provide the rationale of why we built DPM, the main pain points we focused on, and how we approached building the product to support key use cases for the target personas. We also provide a demo of the product.
- Session 2: Common Service Data Model - CSDM (Watch)
The DPM product is closely aligned with the CSDM V4. This video features CSDM expert, Mark Bodman and is a great resource for understanding the relationship between CSDM and DPM.
- Session 3: Data Relationships (Watch)
DPM provides visibility into service and application data across the Plan, Build, Run lifecycle. This video provides a deep dive into those required relationships, and shares helpful resources to assist the implementation process.
- Session 4: Configuring Pages (Watch)
DPM is intended to be configured to best suit and match an organization's data and processes. Use this video to learn how to take advantage of system properties to quickly and easily configure the DPM experience.
- Session 5: KPI Groups (Watch)
Key Performance Indicator (KPI) groups are a core feature of the DPM workspace. This video provides a deep dive into KPI groups, how to configure them, and how to map them to solutions in DPM.
- Session 6: Duplicating and Editing Pages (Watch)
Since DPM is built using the Next Experience, customers can further refine and design DPM pages. This video provides an introduction into what can be modified using the Next Experience and how to make those modifications.
- Session 7: DevOps Insights in DPM (Watch)
DPM surfaces DevOps insights for the solution owner persona, and provides a direct link from DPM into DevOps insights to be able to drill all the way to the source data. This video provides an overview of this feature and how to enable it in DPM.
- Session 8: Digital Product Release + DPM (Watch)
Get a sneak peek of the new Digital Product Release product. Learn about the core use cases and features.
Together, these sessions will help jumpstart your awareness and understanding of the product and speed your implementation process.
As always, we look forward to your feedback.

How can I make changes to DPM queries? If I wanted to change the table where the data is being pulled from or the query that is being used for example on the "Epics in backlog that are ready" item on the Build tab, what I would need to do?
To be honest I have found no documentation or guidelines regarding this matter, only about configuration like hiding tabs or section.

For Plan and Build tab charts, you will need to use the UI Builder to make changes. The tabset on the page (in your screen shot it is the business application service details page) will have "pages" for each tab, so you would go to "Business Application: Build" page. For documentation, you need to look for generic UIB documentation as there is no custom-for-DPM UIB documentation. Session 6 should be a good walkthrough of the process.
For Run (services, offering, and apps) and Overview (portfolio and taxonomy node) tabs, you can configure those KPIs using the KPI Groups and KPI tables. There is lots of documentation and KBs on this. Session 5 provides a good walkthrough of this process.
