Hello ServiceNow Ninjas,

Many times we have seen huge ServiceNow URLs. You can keep on traversing, but it never ends. Check out the below question in the ServiceNow community.

URL becomes too long(beyond 10,000 characters) and gives HTTP error 400

So, with a URL, which is 1000+ characters long, we face many challenges:-

  • It looks weird
  • Sharing it with others can be troublesome
  • Hard to understand
  • Hard to manage(copy, paste & navigate)

This problem of huge URLs is not new, there are many tools available such as Bitly that offer short and manageable URLs. Just like Bitly, we can shorten the URL’s in ServiceNow as well. This is achieved, via Processors.

All the steps to shorten the URLs are - Click Here

Thanks

If you do not see the new button, modify the create ACL by activating the Admin override option

Hi Omender,
I'm trying to create a short URL for a record producer.
I've created a processor record in my own training instance.

Which should point to the URL - https://dev-my-instance.service-now.com/sp?id=sc_cat_item&sys_id=49d3d9da975311108466f0f6f053af0b

I'm getting a 404 page when I use the path in the short URL in my browser- https://dev-my-instance.service-now.com/createIncident

Do you know if this method works on the portal?

If this is deprecated and we can't use it for this reason, is there an alternative?

FYI - coworker is now dealing with a virus after clicking on the All the steps to shorten the URLs are link.  We are not sure how, as I had clicked it previously. OP's website may have been hacked.
