Hi Pramn ,
If the search bar is no longer visible in your ServiceNow instance, here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Steps to Fix the Missing Search Bar:
1. Check User Preferences:
Click on your profile avatar (top-right corner).
Select Preferences and ensure that the search bar is enabled under UI settings.
2. Verify Role-Based Restrictions:
Ensure you have the necessary roles (e.g., admin, itil, or report_user) to access the global search functionality.
3. Clear Browser Cache:
Sometimes, browser cache issues cause UI elements to disappear. Clear your cache or try accessing ServiceNow in incognito mode or another browser.
4. Review Instance Configuration:
Navigate to System Definition > Modules.
Check if the Global Search module has been disabled or removed from the application menu.
5. Check UI Policies or Scripts:
Look for any custom UI Policies or Client Scripts that might hide the search bar for specific users, roles, or conditions.
6. Switch to Default Theme:
If you’re using a customized theme, switch to the default theme to rule out any CSS-related issues.
7. Contact Admin Team:
If the issue persists, it could be due to a recent platform upgrade or customization by the admin team. Reach out to them to verify if global search was intentionally disabled.
Let me know if this helps or if further assistance is required!
Best regards,
Sivashankar T
