Hi Experts/All,
We will be planning to migrate BMC Remedy and ITSM to Service Now in another few months.
It would be helpful for our team if some one can help us in providing the detail steps / cautions to be taken care for migrating BMC Remedy and ITSM to Service Now.
It would be great, if you can provide any documentation for migrating BMC Remedy and ITSM to Service Now.
Thanks,
Ramana.

We were on Remedy for a number of years before we moved to Service Now.
Incident's was first and we tracked everything out of that one table at Service Now GO-Live. Mind you, we had a hard cut off date for Remedy that we were quickly approaching (contract was ending and we weren't renewing). With that said, about a month before we turned remedy off there was a big push to resolve/close as many tickets as possibly to avoid moving tickets into Service Now. The week before the official go-live with Service Now we had everyone working out of both systems as far as working records went so that we could make sure things ready.
We only had a few record that needed to be recreated in SerivceNow the day/two before we turned Remedy off. About that time we also pulled a report with, I believe, a few months worth of record data into a CSV as a "just in case someone called" measure. We then proceeded to have a party, turn remedy off, and we haven't looked back.
I know there are IT shops that have moved or are still using Remedy. If that works for them - great & all the more power to them. However, if you are bringing in Service Now and want it to act/look like Remedy... I would consider taking a step back and reevaluating what you are trying to accomplish short/long term with the move to Service Now.
As far as moving record data -- shouldn't be too bad. Pull the data you want out of Remedy as a csv, then build a transform map in ServiceNow so you can import it into the appropriate table.
Good luck!
Diana

Hi Diana,
Did you migrate attachments associated to records as well?
Thanks in advance.

If my memory serves me correct -- we manually created a few records that were still not resolved/complete in Remedy before we turned it off. Since that was done manually, if there were any attachments they would have been manually associated with the new SN record at that time. There was no formal or major migration of data from Remedy. To be honest - the less we brought over from Remedy - the happier we were.
Thanks,
Diana

HI Diana,
Thanks for the response, and I would agree, less baggage makes things easier 🙂

Hello Richard,
I was just wondering if you were able to migrate records with attachments.
