What is the best way to skip an approval in flow? I am switching to flow for Knowledge approvals but one of the requirements is that if the author is a manager no approval is required.

Use an If flow logic branch before Ask for Approval. Put the manager test in the condition, and run Ask for Approval only in the branch where the article author does not qualify for the skip. If “author is a manager” means the author manages other users, use a reliable user or ownership-group data condition or lookup for that relationship rather than treating the author’s own Manager field as proof that the author is a manager. For standard Knowledge publishing, also check the knowledge base’s Publish workflow: Knowledge - Instant Publish skips approval entirely, while Knowledge - Approval Publish requests approval from the knowledge base manager. If you use an ownership group, confirm its manager/member approval behavior and test the branch in a non-production instance. ServiceNow documents that If flow logic runs its contained actions only when its conditions evaluate true, and that Ask for Approval supports dynamic record fields, users, and groups as approvers.
