Title
ServiceNow to Mule API Integration Failure – Missing Required record_type During Encrypted Attachment Processing
Description
Hi Community,
I am troubleshooting an issue with a ServiceNow-to-Mule API integration.
We are experiencing failures when attaching files as encrypted attachments. The RESTProbe execution returns the following error:
Error Details:
- Error Type: APIKIT:BAD_REQUEST
- Error Message: Required key record_type not found
- Endpoint: /api/ticket-exchange/outbound
- Integration: ServiceNow RESTProbe to Mule API
We have observed that when the attachment processing fails, the system retries the transaction, resulting in multiple transactions being generated.
The successful and failed RESTProbe executions show different response codes.
Questions
- What could be the root cause of the missing record_type field?
- How can I identify where this field is populated in ServiceNow?
- Should I investigate the REST Message, Script Include, Flow Designer, or MuleSoft API mapping?
- How can we prevent duplicate transactions caused by retries?
Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you.
