Abstract: ServiceNow grew 36% last year—a tremendous opportunity but also a formidable challenge for our IT PMO, because during that same period, we saw a 45% increase in demand for high-quality IT projects that deliver measurable business value. Existing processes and delivery methods simply could not scale to address this growth. For this reason, we introduced Agile Delivery, Business Value Realization, and Operational Excellence functions, and standardized several key building blocks such as demand intake, fiscal year planning, status report quality, continuous portfolio optimization, program and portfolio structure. By using Agile and SAFe in conjunction with ServiceNow Project Portfolio Management—which integrates demand, execution, and value realization into single platform—we were able to scale our output dramatically without significant growing our staff. And by continuous training and adoption of new platform features, we’ve been able to up-level our reporting, cross functional visibility, and measured business value along the way.
